A medication sold under the
brand name Ambien, Ambien CR, Edluar,
Intermezzo, and Zolpimist is predominantly used for sleep disorders. It is
proven to reduce the time to sleep onset by about 15 minutes, and a higher dose
can help the patients with more extended sleep duration. It is taken orally and
available as tablets or sublingual tablets or oral sprays. It is a short term
treatment for improving sleep inception as well as prolonging sleep duration.
WORKING
It works by stimulating GABA
effects in the CNS by attaching to GABA receptors at the place where
benzodiazepines are present.
